This is a masterlist of different eyeshadow looks and diagrams for inspiration of The Zulu Palette by Juvia's Place. It is normally sold for $25 (link) and features 9 colors. The palette was initially launched in 2017 and thus there's a lot different reviews with tutorials, I've listed over 27 below looks for you to use as inspiration. The colors read bright, and can be used for big color on all skin tones, but as you'll see below if you apply with a light touch it's possible for them to read as pastels.

Juvia's Place describes this palette as "our most colorful, vivid, vibrant, and vivacious shades" but doesn't actually name the shades, so for the purpose of this blog post, I'm going to use the following names:

list of nine colors available in the ZULU PALETTE

There are 362,880 possible permutations of 9 however I've only included 315 in my charts below as order doesn't really matter. Below are all of those combos listed which you can use as a basis for any 3 to 8 color eyeshadow looks. Nine is self evident by the above colorway.

Please note, the below combos I'm missing 25 combos from Combos of 4; missing 63 combos from Combos of 5; and missing 24 combos from Combos of 6. I did these by hand and I'm giving up. I may come back and update them but I'm starting to dream of these 9 colors.

You could do a different look of eyeshadow placement and color for almost a full year with just this single 9-shade eyeshadow palette!

Below are 27 looks and inspiration from people around the internet using the Zulu Palette from Juvia's Place:

#1 from Macker401347 - Small Wing

001 beside three colored circles: orange, yellow, and brown on a white background

Reddit user Macker401347 posted this look (link). When I created the look, the brown and orange and yellow all get muddied together but it makes it a very good look for work. The Reddit user is able to keep it more separate and vibrant.

#16 from Melissani Mua - Comma Cut Crease

016 with three colored circles—orange, teal, and pink patterned—on a white background

Reddit user Melissani_mua posted this look, which is a shape I don't normally try. Back to the color theory, the glitter rose pink looks like gold next to the orange on my skin tone.

#24 from Annette's Makeup Corner - Cut Crease

#26 from Annette's Makeup Corner - Smokey Cat Eye

026 followed by three colored dots: orange, pink speckled, and red on a white background

Youtuber Annette's Makeup Corner has posted a tutorial for this look: link. It features orange blended on the crease, rose gold on the lid, and red as eyeliner. She calls this a light, summer look.

#45 and #101 from xEdgarAllanHoex - Graphic Tri-Color

045 with three colored circles—yellow, green, and red—on a white background.
101 beside four colored circles—orange, yellow, green, and red—on a white background.

This look comes from Reddit user xEdgarAllanHoex (link). This gives me a graphic 90s feel with the lines and stickers. My diagram only includes the elements from the Zulu palette. If add orange to deepen the yellow, that would be #101.

#62 from Judy - Soft Halo

062 text beside three color swatches: brown, pink patterned, and red on a white background

Youtuber Judy did a multiple tutorial video (link). Here, the red looked more like blush and the pink rose glitter looked more like rose gold when next to brown on my skin when applied with a light touch, but how the shades appear will depend on your application and skin tone.

#65 from Yami Angelina - Smokey Wing

065 beside three circular swatches: teal, speckled turquoise, and green on a white background

This is another look from the Juvia's Place Facebook page (link). This all teal/green look is from Yami Angelina. She uses some black and white in her look but I kept this diagram to just the colors in the Zulu palette.

#71 from MakeupFomo - Half Cut Crease

#83 from Judy - Half Cut Crease

083 in black beside three colored circles: green, red, and purple on a white background.

Youtuber Judy did a multiple tutorial video (link). It was with this look it really sunk in to me how different the red can look depending on the primer, weight of application, skin tone of the user. Here, it almost looks like a pastel pink that's cool-toned but for a lot of other people it shows up as a warm-toned red. Really wild and it's something to keep in mind.

#95 and #203 from Rebecca Capel Makeup - Curved Graphic

095 with four colored dots—orange, yellow, teal, and purple—on a white background

203 beside five colored circles on a white background: orange, yellow, teal, mottled teal, and purple.

This look was posted on the official Juvia's Place Facebook page (link) of a look from Rebecca Capel Makeup. Can do the standard 4 color as shown below, or top with the teal shimmer to make it a 5 color look.

#97 from Macker401347 - Oval Blend

Black 097 beside four colored circles—orange, yellow, teal, and pink—on a white background.

Reddit user Macker401347 posted this look (link). This look reminds me of a sunset on the ocean.

#97 and #214 from Judy - Blended Stack

214 next to five colored circles: yellow, brown, teal, speckled green, and pink on a white background

097 with four colored dots—orange, yellow, teal, and pink—on a white background

Youtuber Judy did a multiple tutorial video (link). She has a really light touch so the colors don't come up as pigmented as other makeup artists, the brown almost looks orange in her video based on her blending.

#103 and #207 Dania Lanese - Half Cut Crease

207 beside five colored dots—orange, yellow, teal, pink, and red—on a white background.

Youtuber Dania Lanese did a review and tutorial of the Zulu palette (link). She mentions in the video she wish she hadn't added the glitter teal on the inner eye. In the below diagram, I did not include the teal.

#135 from Floating in Dreams - Sunset Halo

135 next to four colored circles—orange, teal, red, and purple—on a white background

Blogger Maaike from Floating in Dreams did a review with multiple looks (link). She says she uses all colors except the brown, but from her photo and description it really is blending a lot of the colors together so I don't think you have to use them all to get the same effect.

But with this palette you of course need to make use of at least every shade in one look. Here I have create a cut crease halo eye look with the red, orange and yellow in the crease. I used the purple to frame the halo and I have used the turquoise and light blue to create the halo, which I have repeated it on the lower lash line. As a finishing touch, I added the peach shimmer in the inner corner. The only shade I didn’t use? The matte brown. This has to be one of my favorite makeup looks I created in 2018.

#142 from Overcommunikate - Smokey Eye

142 with four colored circles on a white background: yellow, brown, teal, and pink floral pattern

I was going to try for a rainbow look but ended up kept going back to this color combo. The brown really helps darken out the colors and matches well with the rose pink glitter.

#183 from Macker401347 - Blended Cut Crease

183 with four colored circles: teal, green, red, and purple on a white background

Reddit user Macker401347 posted this look (link). I can't really tell if it's glitter teal or matte teal since she had a light application.

#182 from Kirsten Krupps - Full Glitter

#192 from Gilly Mua - Colorful Smokey

192 with five colored circles: orange, yellow, brown, teal, and pink on a white background

Another post from the Juvia's Place Facebook page, only this time the artist, Gilly MUA, used 2 Juvia palettes. I've made a diagram with just the Zulu palette so is slightly different but I think the vibe is the same of a cut crease of the glitter with smokey color and teal under the eye.

#198 from Floating in Dreams - Peach Look

198 with five colored circles on a white background: orange, yellow, brown, pink patterned, and red.

Blogger Maaike from Floating in Dreams did a review with multiple looks (link). This is her bold self-described peach look.

#250 from Kimberly Worldwide - Color Block

Youtuber Kimberly Worldwide did a really nice full face with this palette, (link).

#277 from Faceination - Halo Cut Out

277 displayed beside six colored circles on a white background, including orange, yellow, teal, patterned green, pink, and purple.

TikTok the influencer Faceination called this palette "ancient" which I find weird because it's still sold in stores. Here's the link to her video. Maybe that was just rage-bait.

#286 from Nasia Belli - Asymmetric Rainbow

Black 286 followed by seven colored circles: orange, yellow, green, teal, pink, red, and purple on a white background

So when looking up inspiration for the Zulu Palette from Juvia's Place, this image from makeup artist Nasia Belli popped up a few times (link). Her look was from a NYX palette but I assume search engines see people looking at rainbow looks in general with the Zulu palette and suggest this look.

#286 from Judienne McWilliam - Cut Crease Rainbow

286 beside seven colored circles on a white background: orange, yellow, green, teal, pink, red, and purple.

#301 from Alicia Archer - Smokey Halo

301 in bold black with six colored circles: orange, teal, green, turquoise, pink, and purple on a white background.

Youtuber Alicia Archer has posted a tutorial for this look: link. It features yellow and orange on the brow bone highlight area, purple on the lid with rose gold in the middle of the lid, while under the eye going from outer to inner is teal, glitter teal, and glitter green.

#304 from Hannah Ra - Smokey Rainbow

Blogger Hannah Ra did a tutorial for an eye that uses almost full raibow but with the smokey brown it doesn't read as flamboyant rainbow (link).

#312 from Mae Polzine - Cut Crease Rainbow

312 text beside a row of colored dots: orange, yellow, brown, teal, green, pink, red, and purple

Blogger Mae Polzine did the rare form of using rainbow with the brown shade (link). The look is fun but she wears black lipstick and frowns in the end photos.

When I was looking online for inspiration to use this palette, I was surprised I didn't see more repetition of the same colors from influencers. The biggest pattern I saw was the glitter rose gold as the center in a halo look. In math class you learn about permutations, but it's fun to truly see how many different variations in real life one can make with 9 colors!

Did I miss any makeup artists looks that you like with this palette?
