The previous 2 parts to the "art I'm loving" round-up has been focused on contemporary art but it's possible to fall in love with older art too! Below are 6 works of classic art I'm in love with:
El Perro by Francisco Goya

Francisco Goya (1746 – 1828) was a Spanish Romantic painter. El Perro, also known as The Dog, was painted sometime between 1819-1823 onto his house outside of Madrid. It is a personal painting, not meant for public exhibition, but it now has a place of honor in the Museo del Prado in Madrid. Compared to The Disasters of War paintings hung next to The Dog, it is a striking piece of the symbolism and modernism. First time I saw it, it took my breath away and I think it might be my favorite painting.
King Charles III by Jonathan Yeo

Jonathan Yeo (1970 – present) is a British artist of contemporary portraiture who works in paint and collage.
Saint Michael Defeats Satan by Corrado Giquinto

Corrado Giaquinto (1703 – 1766) was an Italian Rococo painter who painted Saint Michael Defeats Satan, also known as Saint Michael and the Devil, in 1735 in Rome. Amongst all of the art in the Vatican, this was my brother's favorite.
The Wave by Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky

Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (1817-1900) was a Russian-Armenian Romantic painter. His focus was on marine life, likely influenced by his life in Crimea. I discovered this painting in Country Life's "My favourite painting" feature.
Heat by Kenneth Noland

Kenneth Noland (1924 – 2010) was an American color-field painter famous for bold color and co-centric circles. His art reminds me of the art from Battlestar Galactica '04.
Starry Night and the Astronauts by Alma Thomas

Alma Thomas (1924 – 2010) was an American abstract painter who often referenced space exploration. An inspiring story of late-in-life fame, Miss Thomas didn't start abstract painting until after she retired from teaching.
Wall Explosion II by Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997) was an American pop artist influenced by parody and comic strips. I saw this sculpture at the Tate Modern and it's wonderfully fun.
